Arty talk

September 21, 2011

Shannon is this really cool guy from Bangkok that I was hanging out with the last time I was here. He’s into contact impulse dance and yoga but his really an artist. In a short time, we became really good friends. I love his paintings. Unfourtenetly, he’s really broke at the moment and had to sell of most of his beautiful paintings really cheap to tourists who refuse to pay him what they’re actually worth. He’s really not asking for much, but it does take him so much time to finish one painting and the amount he gets for it is ridiculous. But as I learned after a few months in Pokhara, poverty gives birth to creativity (all the Nepali kids are born artists in one way or another). So shannon is now doing these mood inspired sketches of his on the back of pages ripped from a novel (hopefully a sad love story or something). He’s selling them and saving the money to buy proper materials to paint again. So out of he’s brokeness, a really cool idea was born. I love that you can peak some of the old tai text on the yellowed paper.

“if we, the citizens, do not support our artists, then we sacrifice our imagination, the altar of crude reality and we end up believing in nothing and having worthless dress”. Yann Martel

Casa Joy, Bangkok

September 20, 2011

I love the notes Joy have all over her apartment with good thought and quotes. She even have them in the bathroom so she can see them while showering. She is this kind of person who brings out the best in you and make you start to think. She always says that life is about happiness and about living in the moment and give love : )

Yoga Maffia,

September 20, 2011

I was meeting up with my yoga friends to practice and share the energy of a saturday yoga class together when Joy suggested us to do 108 sun salutations instead. It sounded much easier than it was. It’s amazing how you can do things you didn’t think you could and the mat once again proves itself to be a place where magic does happen. And when things like this can happen during yoga, they surely do in daily life too. Practicing different things in yoga is to learn that we can do more than we think, we learn patience, we learn that continually practice can get you where you want to be. It also teaches you to be nice to yourself, to never force you into anything your not ready for or aren’t’ confident with. Yoga is a practice of life, and to be able to share this practice with great friends, old friends and even new friends is a bliss. Thanks everyone who participated in the 108 sun salutations and shared amazing energy together. 108 sun salutations because 108 is the secret number of the body and it releases so much tension and energy. It’s very mediative and it works very well as a purification method. Afterwards you’ll feel greater than ever (the aching thighs and legs comes the day after).

Spa-ing at TRIA

June 1, 2011

I had to wait for Joy to finnish work in this amazing spa at Tria. Best of all, it was totally empty on people. So I could jump around there myself till the Yin&Yan Yoga class started.

Good Morning Bangkok

June 1, 2011

Best way of starting the day. Go up before 6! Practice with a beautiful minded friend and later go nuts in the pool, and end it with exotic fruits and coconut rice delivered to your sun-bed. Mjauuu, life is too good sometimes….

My temporary home

June 1, 2011

I’ve been staying in Phuongs luxurious “executive apartment” and it’s like coming to real-estate heaven after where I’ve been haha.  It’s just too amazing. At least for a few days : ) As Phuong says, see it as a bit of a treat 🙂

My new room

My very own bathroom

It’s almost too clean, I’m so worried of like destroying the place.

Phuongs in town

May 31, 2011

I’m so happy, my friend Phuong is in Bangkok and she’s gonna stay here for a while. I met her as soon as she landed and we had wine and a stroll around town. She lives in the fancier part of the city so a little bit cleaner, bigger streets and less trashy than my usual Bkk round.

Hot Humid Shanti Evenings

May 31, 2011

The long hot evenings at Shanti BKK is mostly spent with the guys discussing the pole shift and how the world will be affected when the equator goes through different countries after the 21st of December 2010  🙂 Or religions, or yoga, or fruit, or traveling, sometimes it’s the same faces around the table, sometimes someone new shows up on his way to somewhere…

Back in Bangkok

May 30, 2011

I’m back in Bangkok and the city of cockroaches again. Yuuck!!! They are everywhere. I’m not scared of them, mostly disgusted. They always show up when the dark comes.
